Let there be light

Image
The heat was relentless as if out of spite Earth was scorched in blazing white As One sided as it gets with a fight A hero steps in to save her plight   He punched above his weight Not letting her out of his sight   Slim chances against Sun's might But, fought valiantly until twilight   Frustrated and humiliated,  The Sun had to call it a night Clear win by the cloudy knight  Sun will be back with a bigger bite Gutsy cloud will be ready to smite You can blaze all you want But scorch the earth, you can't You can throw all your might But you can't get through until i say ‘Let there be light’

Melting Hope

Image
We evolved rapidly, riding on our distinction. Even as we pushed other species to their edge of extinction We made the blue planet spin towards a scary red future Our price for playing God and messing with Mother nature We managed to boil the Oceans, not with flame or fire and yet we refuse to curb our apathy and cold-hearted desire We wonder why the tides rise higher and winds lash faster even as we blame each other for all disaster Will we slow down and pay heed? Or has greed become our overbearing need? Can green cool this hot crucible? Or is it too late and the damage irreversible? Will we do it differently if we start over again Will we give this earth a better bargain? How dare you? roars mother nature for taking her down this slope She can't bear to witness another pain of melting hope

Will of your heart

Image
I clicked this photo of a flower in my balcony garden. While we whine and complain about the difficulties of life, this flower was an inspiration in fighting the odds. Rising from a dirty mud-filled pot to become such a beautiful bloom is a story worth being told Mighty did I feel looking down from the perch Until an unseen threat left me in the lurch; Scared and scarred, of the impending doom Down i went,  sulking in gloom; Humbled as I was, pushed to the dust My eyes locked on the roots covered in dirt; Out came a stem bowed and bent Weight of its bloom adding to its torment; Pretty in pink, displaying strength in fragility A lesson , about thriving in adversity; It matters not, how often you fall or how bad you start All that counts is how tall you rise with the will of your heart ;

Eye in the sky

What would the Sun think shining light on the earth day in and day out? It is not the Sun that sets to let in darkness, it is us who turn around every day to make him vanish.  A Photo I took from the balcony   My  shift here is done and it’s time to go down To a world ready for a new dawn Fear, not the darkness that comes with night Long before your eyes open, I will be back in your sight You who turned around and not me who said goodbye   I will always watch over you for I am the  'Eye in the sky'

I want to break free

Image
There are many who are itching to go out in spite of this lockdown curfew.   This is an attempt to see the world from a Covidiot's point of view A photo I clicked from my terrace Breaking through the clouds peeped out the Moon Hiding is safe when we know it will all end very soon Rather shine some light before starting to wane Than let the darkness turn you insane We know not what the future has  in store for us So why lock away the only present even if it has a virus It matters not what WHO thinks of Xi  All that matters to me is -   'I want to break free'

Confused,Without a doubt

Image
Sometimes, you rush before it’s too late To beat a deadline set by a nonexistent last date You feel the urge of wanting to create An idea that the head refuses to originate You set sail on a journey with no destination to reach? To be alone even when you are not the only pebble on the beach Sometimes you play the game even when you don't have fun?  And compete in the race that you don’t run? You try to quit all that is stale and mundane Even if the mind has become numb and insane Sometimes it is easier to drift without listening to the head And stop chasing time and let life seek you instead The heart deserves to be free and the mind needs to be calm By clearing the head of its raging storm No wisdom on earth can put your mind at ease When you chose to be driftwood in the high seas You don't need an enemy to get you out When you are confused, without a doubt.

Unlock without breaking the chain

A beautiful dream is gently broken at its peak with reality letting madness take a peek Never imagined living in a world so different with all those lovely days of quiet and silent Lockdown was a bliss while it lasted Sweet were those days that we wilfully waited we craved for normalcy and yearned for the mundane we are getting unlocked. But did we break the chain?

The Game Of Throes

Vladimir may not have Put in the effort to arrest the virus count from raising But Russian’s did bring down something else. His approval ratings. Johnson did not know if he should stay in or out. Was he in Brexit hangover? Boris(k) took too many chances and before it began, his game was almost over Morrison  may have got  beef  against China and demand an investigation He does not want them to go  Scott  free but is he running out of justification? Giuseppe let everyone ‘roam’ free as the world lost count of their fatality Now we don’t know if Italy can or ‘ Conte’ get back its vitality Jacinda h’ arden ’ed her resolve to impose tough measures to curb the spread Deservedly, her popularity soared in the land of flightless birds The model city of the world played so well until they got it wrong Circuit breaker - Did Lee Hsien wait too Loong ? Before the crisis, he may have been booed and chewed But the news that is Just in says, his country thinks of him ...

Tough Paneer - OPS

This was written right after Jayalalitha's death and the political drama that ensued in Tamilnadu, especially when the normally subservient O Panneerselvam suddenly turned rebel We called him subservient and we considered him dull Even as we credited him for taming the Jallikattu bull He didn’t do too bad weathering Vardah , the cyclone But has the resulting popularity left him all alone? His reticence was annoying and showed him as sissy Even as the state was gobbled up alive by the gang of Sasi The eternal stop gap man was considered too meek Until he developed a spine and decided to speak He might have been hiding his insults with tear and smile And that may have endeared him to the rank and file But spare a thought for state that is going through a slump Becoming a shameful spectacle to the world and being compared to Trump OPS might emerge the winner after throwing in his hat But he should remember that the winner of a rat race is still a rat The drama might get more interesti...

'Wonder'ful Case

(Wrote this based on the drama surrounding the arrest of His Holiness Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal, years ago ) He was accused of being apartner in crime Wonder , wh at people won't do for a few dime Some say that he was responsible for getting into the mess Wonder, if they were right about His Holiness Sometimes we listen to things that we don’t like to hear Wonder, if we respected a sinner or seer The truth remains somewhere in the once Holy Mutt Wonder, if the seer would ever come out of the rut The Pontiff may prove that the accusation is just lame Wonder, if his reputation will remain the same He might have had too many criminals in his circle Wonder, if that mistake caused him the tickle Everyone is equal b efore the law, , said the court Wonder, why then are all the corrupt politicians out Wondered if it was a mistake to arrest ’ Jayendra ‘ Wondered, if it held a prelude to ‘end Jaya era ‘

The Game of Life

We are part of a big complex game Where the rules keep changing and are never the same A game so old that the God created The rules so complex that no one is defeated Yet we believe to be better than the best  Looking to rule while being only a guest We divide each other with colour and race And fight so hard till we lose our face Do we need to know the how and why of this game Or is it enough to play the part that’s given to our name Sometimes I wonder why this game is being played Can we change the rules that are laid? In the Game of Life we might be a mere toy The realization of which might not bring us great joy Yet we don’t have the right to judge our role or ask how ‘coz small or big, good or bad, we are an integral part of the big show The show goes on and stops never If its not you, then there is always someone to carry it forever And we’ll be well served to remember the fact That we are not the actors but just the act… In the complex but beautiful drama that we call, Life

Old Songs to a New world

The World is becoming a  Dangerous  (Michael Jackson) and  Bad  (Michael Jackson) place to live in and there is no  Sign   (Ace of base)of  Harmony  that we could  Look  forward to. But, since  We Are The World, We Are the Children , (Michael Jackson) let us try and  Heal The World   (Michael Jackson) rather than trying to  Slip And Slide Away ( Laura Allen ) . So  Let Us Start My Friend Let Us Start  to make this world a  Better Place For You And Me And The Entire Human Race  (Michael Jackson)in our Living Years  (Mike and the mechanics)  Let us make this world a  Paradise  and Live Another Day   (Phil Collins) instead of shedding  Tears In Heaven   (Eric Clapton). We might face some minor Hazard (Richard Marx) and might have to make a few  Sacrifice   (Elton John) in the process, but with a little  Faith  (George Michael) we make ...

The Ho(r)ro(r)scope of Life

Ever heard about the scripts that seem to know our life The one that we seek when we have a mental strife They tell our story  that is to unfold Events that would shape our life until we get old When things are down we look for a glimmer of hope And what better way than to look for it through our horoscope Will the celestial objects align in our  favor? Can they shape future that i could savor? The future is usually predicted to be more pleasant Or is it just a relative comparison to the dark present But isn’t this present, future to a past!!! We may now know what future has in store And maybe also about the life before We may know about our Karma that led to this life And then about the stars and planets that cause strife But yet, all this knowing might not make life any better If anything, they might only make us more bitter After all, who wants to feel like a sitting duck Ruled by planets and controlled by Luck .

Life and Death

Is there a life after death, some wonder? But could there be a life without death, just ponder Why do we think it’s the roads end? While life is just taken through a sharp bend What do we loose, if there are no corners to turn Wouldn’t life be easier without having to mourn? Wouldn’t our lives be better with nothing to worry? How pleasant it would be, never to feel sorry Yet death is as real as reality can be Lurking in the shadows for you and for me Where there is shadow we know there is light It’s in the darkness we see that which is bright The end of the world to a caterpillar is the birth to a butterfly At the horizon, seems to begin the bright blue sky There is never a beginning without an end And life is always there waiting behind the bend Fear not the death and don’t try to hide For it’s on the death that life has its best ride

United States of America

They are the leaders who claim to love democracy But sometimes their actions would put to shame, a crazy They believe that might is right And that bullying smaller nations is their birthright They considered Saddam an evil Yet they created Osama, to play the devil Sometimes they bite more than what they could chew And that’s what happened when the devil gave his due The attack on WTO was a sickening horror But it was a shame to market it for the war against terror They crossed the seas and attacked other cities In the name of ending terrorist atrocities Uncle Sam has nose so long, that he likes to poke Even as the world new that WMD was nothing but a joke Yet they occupied other man’s soil For reasons as real as minerals and oil The world was helpless as they split the mighty Soviet The fear of which had shut everyone quiet They destroyed a nation to avenge Pearl Harbour and built themselves by outsourcing jobs for cheap labour They have landed everywhere except the Sun And they always...
